Something Rotten at Cockpit in Court

BAWDY-LICIOUS! Something Rotten Brings Down the House.

Cockpit In Court opens its summer season with the ribald musical, Something Rotten, by Karey Kirkpatrick and John O’Farrell with music and lyrics by Karey and Wayne Kirkpatrick, in the F. Scott Black Theater. The show runs Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays till June 25th and from the response of the audience at the Sunday matinee I attended, I would suggest purchasing your tickets in advance.

Blue skies— smiling at me! Nothing but blue skies do I see! And ain’t it the truth, folks. Here Scottfield Theatre Company is trying to open their holiday production of Irving Berlin’s White Christmas and what does Havre de Grace, Maryland give ‘em? 71 ° weather with brilliant, bright blue skies! It’s like Pine Tree, Vermont, complete with no snow! Directed by Chuck Hamrick with Musical Direction by Nathan Scavilla and Choreography by Becky Titelman,

Scrooge at Scottfield Theatre Company

Christmas before Thanksgiving?
Humbug! Don’t let me see one light, hear a carol, or find Santa in a mall until
I’ve had my turkey. Unless of course you are talking about seeing Scrooge, directed by William Price, at
Scottfield Theatre Company.

With this aversion for early
Christmas you can imagine my thoughts while driving forty minutes north to
Havre de Grace.

Scottfield Theater Company has a dream, a song to sing… and sing it they do! Running October 5-7 and 12-14 in the Cultural Center of Havre de Grace, this production of Mamma Mia is stuffed to the brim with infectious energy, uproarious laughter, and an impressive performance of pop monolith ABBA’s timeless catalog.

Mamma Mia tells the story of Sophie and Donna, a daughter and her single mother in their journey to discover who Sophie’s father was and face the memories Donna has of her three old flames and potential father for her daughter.

Titanic at Scottfield Theatre Company

There’s a place called Chicago, I’ve seen it on a map. There’s a place called Mary-land, I’ve seen it on a map. There’s a place in America called “Havre de Grace” and I’m hoping it’s a bit like Broadway, oh I’m hoping that it is… and I’m hoping that the Scottfield Theatre Company will build a floating city of success with their current production of Titanic. Directed by Al Herlinger with Musical Direction by Niki Tart,

Review: Anything Goes at Phoenix Festival Theater at Live! at Harford Community College

I hate parading my serenading as I’ll probably miss a bar, but if this ditty is not so pretty at least it’ll tell you how great they are— they being the Phoenix Festival Theater and their current production of Anything Goes! One of Cole Porter’s finest musicals— baby it’s the tops— is now setting sail under the Direction of James Hunnicutt and the Musical Direction of Julie Parrish. With Conductor Will Poxon leading the live on-stage orchestra,

Review: Mary Poppins at LIVE! @ Harford Community College

Time to grab your spoon full of sugar and head over to The Phoenix Festival Theater’s latest undertaking, Mary Poppins the Musical. Disney’s magical nanny is at it again and ready to provide a jolly holiday for believers of all ages! Directed and Choreographed by Kim Brueggemann, this production, while exhibiting some welcome bursts of charming energy (mainly during dance routines) overall feels under-speed. I attribute most of the clunkiness to the book of this musical (one I’ve seen now about three or four times),
