Godspell at Peace Players

ā€œWhen your trust is all but shattered; when your faith is all but killed. You can give up bitter and battered or you can slowly start to build.ā€

I like to start most reviews, if I can help it, with a hook-line, usually some clever twist on one of the showā€™s iconic lyrics or themes, but this one is just a direct line-pull from ā€œBeautiful Cityā€ because itā€™s what co-founders Albert J. Boeren and Lisa Boeren have created.

The Prom at Tidewater Players

ā€œI donā€™t want to start a riot. I donā€™t want to blaze a trail. I donā€™t want to be a symbol or a cautionary tale.ā€ Musical theatre is story first. Always has been. Itā€™s the lyrics in the music which transports the story to the audience and at the end of the day, the story at the heart of The Prom is just about a person wanting to live their life like any other normal person and get to have all the things that any other normal person has.

Titanic at Scottfield Theatre Company

Thereā€™s a place called Chicago, Iā€™ve seen it on a map. Thereā€™s a place called Mary-land, Iā€™ve seen it on a map. Thereā€™s a place in America called ā€œHavre de Graceā€ and Iā€™m hoping itā€™s a bit like Broadway, oh Iā€™m hoping that it isā€¦ and Iā€™m hoping that the Scottfield Theatre Company will build a floating city of success with their current production of Titanic. The Graduate at Dundalk Community Theatre

Dundalk Community Theatre brings to stage the classic coming of age story, ā€œThe Graduateā€, Directed by Todd Starkey, with scene/lighting/sound design by Marc W. Smith, and costumer Eva Grove. As I am a fan of Mr. Starkeyā€™s work, I was very much looking forward to this production. Having seen his phenomenal direction of Assassins, and his brilliant portrayal of Professor Callahan, perhaps I set the bar too high for this one.

Review: The Odd Couple (Female Version) at Artistic Synergy

To begin this review, a synopsis feels almost unnecessary because it would be difficult to find people who are not familiar with this timeless piece of comedy by Neil Simon. The Odd Couple had its original debut in 1965 on Broadway, and with its success, spurred a film in 1968, and then a TV series from 1970 ā€“ 1975. Since then itā€™s seen many adaptations and revivals (even a cartoon version in the 70ā€™s!).
