Heritage Players’ Ship of Dreams: Titanic’s Cast & Musicians Share Their Dreams- Spencer Kate Nelson & Daniel Plante

Setting sail with an ambitious production, The Heritage Players is preparing to launch Titanic in Concert. Because of the piece’s ensemble nature, TheatreBloom wanted to explore the hopes and dreams of the cast and the musicians (as there are nearly 25 of each, making this an almost 50-performer theatrical experience.) Asking each of the players- both on stage and in the pit- about their dreams has proved to be a remarkable experience. Christening the series- Ship of Dreams– are actors Spencer Kate Nelson and Daniel Plante.

Name: Spencer Kate Nelson

Character: Madeline Astor

To so many Titanic was truly the ship of dreams— representing in one form or another a license to dream, to live, to be free. What is your biggest dream?

Spencer: To make acting and performing my full time job.

Have you ever traveled aboard a luxury liner or cruise ship— what was that experience like (or what do you dream it would be like if you have never done so)?

Spencer: I have. It was beautiful and I felt like a celebrity every part of my trip. It was pretty spectacular!

Name: Daniel Plante

Character: Thomas Andrews

To so many Titanic was truly the ship of dreams— representing in one form or another a license to dream, to live, to be free. What is your biggest dream?

Daniel: I’ve always wanted to be involved in the arts, and I’ve been blessed to have been accepted into the Baltimore community theater family. I’m living the dream of being able to make fantastic art with wonderful people every time I do a show, whether it’s on-stage or behind the scenes. I couldn’t ask for more.

Have you ever traveled aboard a luxury liner or cruise ship— what was that experience like (or what do you dream it would be like if you have never done so)?

Daniel: While I’ve never been on a cruise ship, I like the idea of being away from the hustle and bustle of the world for however many days. I’m at my most peaceful when I’m able to unplug from everything, and you can’t get much more disconnected than a ship in the middle of the open sea.

Titanic in Concert plays through February 18, 2018 at The Heritage Players in the Rice Auditorium of the Spring Grove Hospital Campus— 55 Wade Avenue in Catonsville, MD. Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance online.
