Death Warmed Over at Do Or Die Productions

Death Warmed Over, Do or Die Production’s interactive murder mystery for the month, was captivating and hilarious to watch. The scenario for the night brought audience members into the filming of a livestream for the true crime reenactment television show Wanted: Dead or Alive. Due to its outdated formatting and script, Wanted: Dead or Alive’s ratings have dropped to an all-time low, and with an attempt to gain new audiences, the entire evening falls into chaos, hatred, and murder. Watch Wanted: Dead or Alive’s host Robert Hack (Pat McPartlin), tired producer Dana Friendly (Amanda Gunther), self-absorbed new hire Tawny Tepper (Morgan Czosnowski), Tawny’s dramatic aunt Ann White (Erin Tarpley) and the show’s makeup artist Mauve (CJ Crowe), argue, manipulate, and blackmail as secrets are revealed and hatred grows between them all.

Within Do or Die’s formatting there are sections for audience-based interaction and criminal investigation built into the show. With each character coming around table-to-table during the interactive portion, each audience member was able to ask questions and watch more and more of the character’s personalities come out. During the investigation portion, the cop, Justin Case (Charles Boyington), was also excellently-played, giving opportunities for both audience members and the rest of the cast to shine. Tawny’s attitude, Mauve’s snide comments, and Ann’s flair for the dramatic really shone through with these sections.

As the show ran for about an hour and a half (no intermission), there was just enough time for the actors to produce a well-organized, funny and murder-y extravaganza. Each character had their own quirks and traits that made them stand out, as well as let the character’s interactions paint unique and comical pictures for the audience to watch. The pacing, at times, was a little lacking, but the actors pulled it off regardless, and they pulled it off spectacularly.

Overall, this show was extremely enjoyable to watch and exceeded all expectations. The actors had fun, the audience had fun and the whole experience was one that would be hard to repeat.
