SpongeBob! The musical!? That’s right, gentle fish-folk…or land mammals…or whoever you are that needs a good laugh and a feel-good night out at the theatre? (And that is 100% everyone right now, so everyone should come out to the theatre.) That ridiculous and absorbent, delightful yellow sponge from Nickelodeon has his own stage musical! (And it’s not new-new…it debuted back in 2016!) But it sure is splashing onto the stage at Other Voices Theatre!

Oliver! at Kensington Arts Theatre

I’d do anything— for a good show— anything! And despite all
the connotations the come alongside Oliver!
(that it’s dated, that it’s a child’s musical, that it’s a bit rubbish in
music and book, etc.) Kensington Arts Theatre is producing what is arguably
their best show of the 2018-2019 season. Practically perfect, with a few minor
exceptions, this well-heeled production of Lionel Bart’s musical adaptation of
Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist is surprisingly
endearing and loaded with an extraordinarily talented cast.

Little Shop of Horrors at Tantallon Community Players

Does everyone remember a couple of weeks ago when we had that total eclipse of the sun?

Well, I was walking in the wholesale theatre district that day— Da-doo! And I passed by this old place where I sometimes see theatre— Harmony Hall Regional Center-doo! And they sometimes host Tantallon Community Players, good-theatre-doo! And I noticed that they had this strange show happening— good for you! A musical! And something about feeding the plants— nope-de-doo!
