Sail on! Sail on…great ship. Godspeed, Titanic. (in concert!) In a bold and ambitious move, and an unprecedented trend in the area’s community theatre scene, The Heritage Players launch the first “in-concert” musical production on their stage of the 2018 season with their floating city Titanic: In Concert. Directed by David Jennings with Musical Direction by David Zajic, this “concert-plus” experience is the ship of dreams for any community theatre.
Come errant knights and ladies! For it is time to sally forth toward the windmill—er, castle—and into the grand and touching tale of Don Quixote de La Mancha! Man of La Mancha, Directed by Heidi Toll, with a Book by Dale Wasserman and Music and Lyrics by Mitch Leigh and Joe Darion respectively, is now playing at Saint Gabriel Miracle Players and boy is it a fun time! Performed as a “play within a play” this slightly pared-down version of the musical flourishes in its simple staging and still packs a wallop for theatre-goers of all ages.
The question of ,‘Do you hear the people sing?’ is being heard all throughout the Baltimore and Washington area this summer as Les Misérables makes its way across the professional and community theatre circuit. Howard County Summer Theatre joins in the revolution with their production of the Broadway sensation and with a cast of over 100 individuals there is no question as to whether or not you can hear these people sing.
